Description
Drawing from industrial-organizational psychology, communication, information science, and
sociology, this course offers a multidisciplinary approach to understanding group behavior and
improving team performance in various organizational contexts. Specifically, this course
explores the dynamics of team functioning and provides students with tools to manage teams
effectively for organizational success. Key topics include group composition, trust-building,
power dynamics, knowledge-sharing, goal setting, task-coordination, communication, cross-
cultural collaboration, conflict management, and innovation. Students will also explore the
unique challenges of managing virtual teams and develop strategies to foster effective teamwork
and success.
