Teach Out Plan

In the event that a degree program is approved for deactivation, Chaminade University is committed to ensuring that all currently enrolled students are provided a clear and supported path to degree completion.  The university will take the following steps:

  • Notification: All students enrolled in the program will be notified in writing in a timely manner once a program is approved for deactivation. This communication will include information about the program’s status, anticipated timeline, and available support resources.

  • Completion Assurance: Students who have declared the program prior to its closure to new enrollment will be provided a reasonable opportunity to complete their degree requirements. The University will ensure access to required courses or appropriate alternatives (e.g., substitutions, independent study, or equivalent coursework) so that students are not unduly delayed in completing their program.

  • Academic Planning & Advising: Each student will work with an academic advisor and program faculty to develop an individualized plan for completing remaining degree requirements. This plan will outline required coursework, course sequencing, and an expected timeline for completion. Documentation of this plan may be maintained to support student progress.

  • Course Scheduling: The University will develop and communicate a schedule of remaining course offerings sufficient to meet student demand during the teach-out period. Adjustments may be made as needed to ensure that all students have access to required coursework.

  • Ongoing Support & Flexibility: The University recognizes that students may have differing circumstances and timelines. Reasonable accommodations will be considered, where appropriate, to support student completion. Students will also be advised of alternative academic pathways should they choose to change programs.

  • Catalog Status: Programs approved for deactivation will be designated in the academic catalog as “closed to new enrollment” and “in teach-out status.” The program will remain in the catalog until all teach-out obligations have been fulfilled and will be fully removed only after all currently enrolled students have completed the program.
