Aid and Federal Programs
The Financial Aid Office administers federal, institutional, and private financial assistance programs in accordance with applicable federal regulations and University policies. Students are encouraged to contact the Financial Aid Office for assistance regarding eligibility requirements, application procedures, borrowing options, and maintaining financial aid eligibility throughout their enrollment.

Federal Financial Aid Programs
Graduate students may be eligible for federal financial aid through the U.S. Department of Education. Eligibility is determined annually based on information submitted through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
To be considered for federal financial aid, students must complete the FAFSA online at www.studentaid.gov for each academic year in which assistance is requested.
Federal Student Aid Eligibility Requirements
To receive federal financial aid, a student must:
Be admitted and enrolled in an eligible degree-seeking graduate program.
Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or eligible noncitizen.
Provide a valid Social Security Number, unless exempt under federal regulations.
Maintain enrollment requirements established for the aid program being received.
Meet federal standards for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as defined by the University.
Certify that federal student aid will be used only for educational purposes.
Not be in default on a federal student loan or owe an overpayment on a federal grant.
Comply with all federal student aid eligibility requirements established under Title IV of the Higher Education Act.
Students selected for verification or other federal eligibility reviews must submit all requested documentation before aid eligibility can be finalized. The University reserves the right to request additional documentation whenever necessary to determine eligibility for financial assistance.
Annual Application Requirement
Federal financial aid is not automatically renewed. Students seeking federal aid must submit a FAFSA each award year and continue to satisfy all eligibility requirements, including satisfactory academic progress standards.
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans
The Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan is available to eligible graduate students regardless of financial need. Interest begins accruing upon disbursement of the loan.
Graduate students may borrow up to the annual federal loan limits established by the U.S. Department of Education, subject to aggregate borrowing limits and cost of attendance restrictions.
Alternative Educational Loans
Students who require additional funding beyond federal aid eligibility may apply for private educational loans through participating lenders. Alternative loans are credit-based and are not guaranteed by the federal government.
Financial Aid Rights and Responsibilities
Students receiving financial aid are responsible for:
Providing accurate and complete information on all financial aid applications and forms.
Reviewing and accepting the terms and conditions associated with their financial aid awards.
Maintaining satisfactory academic progress.
Promptly notifying the Financial Aid Office of changes in enrollment, degree program, outside scholarships, or other circumstances that may affect aid eligibility.
Monitoring their Chaminade University email account and student portal for important financial aid communications and requests for documentation.
Failure to comply with federal, institutional, or program-specific requirements may result in the reduction, cancellation, or repayment of financial aid funds.
