Public Health: Certificate Requirements

A list of courses that compromise the certificate program of study for each specialization area is listed below. Each certificate requires the completion of 15 credit hours.

  • Community Health Worker

    Individuals who seek a certificate in the Community Health Worker Specialization are community-based individuals who may or may not have an undergraduate degree in another discipline and seek to gain depth of knowledge while acquiring additional skills to launch or enhance a career in public health or a related field. The certificate will provide content in health education, health coaching, public health, and policy. Individuals interested in the certificate option will follow appropriate application/admission processes. Each certificate requires the completion of 15 credit hours, and the typical timeline for completion of the certificate is 2 semesters.

  • Public Health, Analytics & Strategy

    Individuals who seek a certificate in the Public Health, Analytics & Strategy Specialization are community-based individuals who may or may not have an undergraduate degree in another discipline and seek to gain depth of knowledge while acquiring additional skills to launch or enhance a career in public health or a related field. The certificate will provide learning to harness the power of ‘big data’ to improve healthcare. Content includes disease modeling and prediction, which informs decision-making and policy development. Individuals interested in the certificate option will follow appropriate application/admission processes. Each certificate requires the completion of 15 credit hours, and the typical timeline for completion of the certificate is 2 semesters.

    Individuals who seek a certificate in the Sustainability: Environment & Public Health are community-based individuals who may or may not have an undergraduate degree in another discipline and seek to gain depth of knowledge while acquiring additional skills to launch or enhance a career in public health or a related field. The certificate will explore the linkages between environment and health, especially in the area of preventative health, policy, and public health. Individuals interested in the certificate option will follow appropriate application/admission processes. Each certificate requires the completion of 15 credit hours, and the typical timeline for completion of the certificate is 2 semesters.

      Individuals who seek a certificate in the Non Profit Administration Specialization are community-based individuals who may or may not have an undergraduate degree in another discipline and seek to gain depth of knowledge while acquiring additional skills to launch or enhance a career in public health or a related field. The certificate will develop expertise in healthcare administration in the non-profit sector with content in economics, finance, and operation of community healthcare organizations. Individuals interested in the certificate option will follow appropriate application/admission processes.
