Educational Specialist (EdS) in School Psychology Overview

The Educational Specialist (EdS) in School Psychology program at Chaminade University of Honolulu is a scientist-practitioner-based program for working professionals in the field of School Psychology. This program offers an innovative and real-world curriculum that focuses on preparing individuals to meet the holistic needs of PK-12 students.

The EdS in School Psychology’s vision is to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values essential in the training of school psychologists. The essential values are a commitment to the ethical provision of quality service, evidence-based practices to diverse populations, and theoretical application to clinical and school-based issues.

The EdS in School Psychology is a three-year online program that includes a 1200-hour clinical internship.  This program was designed to allow students to become a National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) Specialist Level School Psychologist. This curriculum aligns with the Hawai`i Department of Education’s School Psychology position. The curriculum includes advanced mental and behavioral health courses, training in test administration, and a culminating experience in the form of a 1200-hour internship and a NASP portfolio.  Students will also be required to complete a 600-hour internship within a PK-12 school setting.
