The Bachelor of Arts in Law, History and Culture is an interdisciplinary program for students interested in law, legal studies, and the broader social forces that shape legal systems. Drawing on courses in History, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Political Science, English, Religion, Business, and Communication, the program provides a strong foundation in critical thinking, ethical reasoning, expository and legal writing, and the analytical skills necessary for success in law school and law-related careers. Students examine how law structures social, political, economic, and cultural life, with particular attention to Hawai‘i and the Pacific, while developing practical skills in legal research, writing, and advocacy. Through a scaffolded sequence of foundational courses, advanced legal and ethics courses, and a required experiential capstone or internship, Law and Society majors graduate prepared for the rigor of law school and a wide range of professions in legal services, public service, advocacy, and policy work.
