Integrated Master of Science and Doctorate (M.S.M.F.T. + D.M.F.T.) Requirements
The Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy (MS-MFT) to Doctor of Marriage and Family Therapy (DMFT) Fast Track Pathway at Chaminade University of Honolulu offers an accelerated route for MS-MFT students to pursue doctoral studies without interruption. This pathway is designed to streamline the transition from a master's to a doctoral degree, enabling students to build upon their foundation in systemic therapy while advancing clinical, leadership, teaching, and research competencies at the doctoral level.
A key feature of the program is the ability for MS-MFT students to substitute up to 15 credits (five courses) toward DMFT requirements, reducing overall time to degree completion. The Fast Track structure allows students to complete both degrees within approximately five years, compared to the traditional six to seven years when pursued separately.
The curriculum is intentionally structured to support licensure requirements, clinical excellence, cultural responsiveness, and leadership development in Marriage and Family Therapy. The Fast Track pathway offers students a seamless, efficient, and integrated progression toward earning a doctoral degree while contributing to the mental health needs of diverse communities.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be enrolled in the MS-MFT program at Chaminade University of Honolulu.
Students must apply and be accepted into the Fast Track during their MS-MFT program, typically during the first year.
