Description

A survey of musical history from the Baroque to the 20th century. This introductory course is geared toward building a foundation of knowledge in music history and music appreciation and prepares the student for further musical pursuits. Lectures, listening, and video presentations. No prior musical experience is necessary. Topics include Medieval and Renaissance Music, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, Modernist, Twelve-tone, and Minimalism. This course satisfies the general education learning requirement for knowledge of beauty and creativity.
