School Counseling & Exceptional Children

The scope of this course will be an examination of learning differences, mood-related disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, neurocognitive disorders, conduct challenges, physical and health challenges, visual and hearing challenges, child abuse/neglect/educational neglect, and substance use disorder within the K-12 educational context. The specific focus will be on the role of the counselor interventions, the special education referral and diagnostic process, and program evaluation.
