This course is an in-depth examination of the problem of family abuse designed to facilitate an understanding of the complexities of family abuse patterns, their causes, and effects. Special attention is given to the roles sex and violence play in destructive family behavior. Coursework also combines readings, simulations, and videotaped role-plays to develop student understanding of and practice with systemic intervention strategies employed in cases involving family abuse
