Description
This course explores the principles and practices of cross-cultural counseling within mental health and educational settings. Students will examine the impact of cultural diversity on mental health and learn to apply culturally responsive counseling techniques to support PK-12 students from diverse backgrounds. Emphasis is placed on developing cultural competency, understanding the socio-cultural factors influencing mental health, and promoting social justice and equity in counseling practices. The course aligns with the Marianist values of service, justice, and peace, preparing students to become effective and culturally competent mental health practitioners.
