Description

This course surveys the life and work of especially significant women in Christianity with an emphasis on the Catholic Church. Analytical discussion employing socio-cultural, philosophical, theological, and feminist approaches will help students to understand how women have been perceived in Christian history and literature. The struggles and successes of these women will exemplify how strong faith can overcome obstacles based on stereotypes and other images. Offered alternate years. Prerequisite: RE 103, RE 205, or RE 211. This course satisfies the General Education requirement for Formation in Faith.
