Description
This course provides an in-depth examination of nonverbal cognitive assessments and their application in PK-12 educational settings. Students will explore the theoretical foundations, psychometric properties, and appropriate uses of nonverbal cognitive measures to assess students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The course emphasizes the role of nonverbal assessments in identifying strengths and needs, informing intervention planning, and supporting equitable practices in psychoeducational evaluations. Students will develop skills in administering, scoring, and interpreting widely used nonverbal cognitive assessments while considering ethical guidelines and cultural responsiveness. Through applied activities and case studies, students will learn to integrate nonverbal assessment results into a problem-solving framework to support data-based decision-making, promote student success, and collaborate effectively with families and educators.
