Description
This course examines the politico-economic dynamics that have propelled the Chinese economy into becoming the second largest on earth. Rapid capital accumulation in China since 1980 is recognized from different conceptual vantage points, including market liberalization, state capitalism/varieties of capitalism, institution-building, global integration, and Sino-capitalism. Major recent trends in Chinese technology, business systems, government policy, and financial regulation and innovation are investigated with a focus on their global impacts.
