Description

This course focuses on exploring basic nursing concepts including holism, diversity, health, illness, healthcare delivery systems, continuity of care, developmental care, and care across the lifespan. Legal and ethical issues related to nursing will be explored. The nursing process will be introduced and applied in patient care scenarios. Professionalism of the nurse including research and evidence-based practice will be discussed. Service-learning will be a required element of the course, in the form of a 10-hour service-learning activity and a written reflection about the experience.
Prerequisites: BI 151 and BI 151L, BI 152 and BI 152L
