Overview
Description
This course is the third of four practicum courses in the DMFT Licensing Track, designed to further develop students' ability to apply advanced family systems approaches in a supervised clinical setting. Under the guidance of a Hawaiʻi approved, licensed marriage and family therapist, students will refine their case conceptualization, therapeutic interventions, and ethical decision-making while working with diverse client populations. Students will receive structured clinical supervision and are expected to integrate supervisor feedback to enhance their clinical skills, professional identity, and adherence to ethical and legal standards. Additionally, students will continue accruing approved direct client contact hours toward licensure in the state of Hawaiʻi while engaging in self-assessment and peer discussions to strengthen their clinical competencies. This practicum emphasizes progressive skill-building, preparing students for increased autonomy and leadership in their final practicum experience.
