Overview
Description
Organizational leaders must recognize and evaluate the appropriate methodologies to promote culturally-responsive programming for diverse learners. In this course, students will review the processes by which institutions can assess, plan, and subsequently tailor educational opportunities to create innovative and collaborative learning communities. Students will also examine the theory and processes related to supporting students holistically from diverse cultural backgrounds. This course will increase the student’s awareness of counselor and educator prejudices, biases, values, ethics, and social/cultural expectations. The learner must be seen as part of an integrated system of mutually reciprocal components (family, environment, school, social structure, friends, culture, etc.).
